Well there’s a surprise (tongue very much in cheek).

The Bonjour Service service terminated with the following service-specific error:
%%4294967295

Looking in my error logs I can see it caused an Event ID 7024

Tried everything didn’t work. I’m desperately trying to avoid downloading iTunes, I don’t think there’s a software package anywhere in the world I dislike more.

But then….

iTunes wouldn’t download! I had a good look through their support forums and after a fair amount of digging you’ll find that this link does work (I’ve tested it and downloaded it myself). http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1427?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

N.B. This is obviously NOT the most up to date version of iTunes (personally I find iTunes a truly horrible piece of software) BUT, it does get the Bonjour Service up and running!

I’m hoping I’ll be able to uninstall it later and hopefully leaving a working Bonjour service behind. Will let you once I’ve done it myself.

1. SmartShare Connecting Guide (http://www.lg.com/uk/support/smart-share) The file Plex-Media-Server-v0.9.502-en-US.exe (current letest version as of this article for Windows)

Plex Media Server attempts – and fails to install the Bonjour Service. So it is best to install the Bonjour service by installing iTunes (yes I hate it too but it’s the only was of getting the Bonjour service up and running) If you have a better method please post in the comments below!

Unfortunately there LG do not have a version of Plex media Scanner for Linux (I have a number of films on my NAS drive). The way I got round this was to use another computer on my network. Map the NAS drive from there and add the Movie folder tho the Plex Media Scanner from there.
